Rejected magazine campaign, 1999. Client: Boom Chicago (Amsterdam). Agency: Freelance. Art Director: Åsk Wäppling. Copywriter: Maxim van Wijk. Cause of death: see below. MORE »

Wäppling explains:

Boom Chicago is a comedy/stand-up place here in Amsterdam. Boom serves food and prides themselves on their American pizza and Nacho dishes. We had endless ideas for crazy gimmicks, new media ads and p.o.s material, not to mention ten second TV.

We show these posters and a few of our gimmicks, concentrating on the fact that these posters a) could be 'wildposters' a cheap way of postering without using regular busposter adspace b) could be small space ads in any mag/newspaper (we were mainly thinking of the 'night out' - mags that cover Amsterdam only) and c) could go in/on the back or heck even on the cover of Boom's own Magazine.

Client's reason for rejection: "We can't afford it, and we certainly can't afford giving up the backspace of our magazine, that's 3000 guilders!"
