Time off for good behavior

Every ten years, whether I need it or not, I take a couple weeks’ vacation. Here I go again. I’m going to a place where there is no high-speed internet access. Indeed, there is no low-speed internet access. There is not even Wi-fi in the local Starbucks. Perhaps because there is no local Starbucks. No man is an island but a man can go to one, and that is what I am doing. Will I survive two weeks without constant intravenous-drip email and RSS? Come back in two weeks and find out.

P.S. As this site’s comments are moderated, and as moderation requires my presence, if you haven’t posted a comment here before, you won’t be able to do so now. I will brood about this while lolling on the sand.

Are you crazy? You do realise your RSS and e-mail will be completely unmanagable by the time you return and that you’ll never catch up. When this happens to me, delete is a particularly useful filter. :)

Be careful… spending time away from the inbox becomes addictive… and refreshing ; )

Trust me, vacation is good for you. At least when you’re away. By the time I returned to my office, I found 285 unread emails.

I took two weeks off last December and also left the world of internet access behind. I thought it would bother me, but I was wrong. Very wrong.

Once I was home I was glad to be back online, but while I was gone I never missed it. Not for a minute. It was nice to be away. I hope you had a similar experience!

Does Zeldman seriously only take a vacation once a decade? That kind of sucks for him. I know I’d go crazy, at least.

“vacation”? Z has obviously gone crazy, and is now using made-up words.

Regardless of how often you take them(vacations)…enjoy it while it lasts! Have a safe trip. :)
