COVER GALLERY
Allison Cecil’s cover design quickly conveys one of the book’s underlying themes. But it was not the only cover design submitted for this book. Below are designs you won’t find in U.S. stores, but might see in international editions of TYTTTW:
Created by Carlos Segura and partners. Comp, JPEG image.
Created by Michael Schmidt and Token Nygaard, this was ultimately considered too “playful.”
Created by the book’s author, this one captured the Zeldman “brand” but not the essence of the book.
Note how the shapes simultaneously suggest folder tabs and talk balloons.
Instead of a traditional cover, the book would have lived inside a plastic bag with removable branding elements.
Like Allison’s, this design gets at the notion of transitioning from print (CMYK colors) to web (RGB colors).
Created by Segura and partners. The grid is meant to suggest the limited color palette of the web.
