Brandon Grotesque

Brandon Grotesque is a sans serif family of six weights plus matching italics, designed by Hannes von Döhren.

Influenced by the geometric-style sans serif faces that were popular during the 1920s and 30s, the fonts are based on geometric forms that have been optically corrected for better legibility. Brandon Grotesque has a functional look with a warm touch.

The Regular weight is free through April 15.

This is beautiful! I’ve tweeted the designer, any knowledge if it can be used ala @font-face?

As they don’t say so, it probably can’t be. Certainly worth asking, and maybe nudging the designer in that direction. Let us know what you find out.

I emailed Herr von Döhren today with that question. He sent a nice reply asking that we don’t use @font-face or Cufon because of the potential for copyright theft. However, he did say it’s OK to use sIFR, which whilst far from ideal is at least something. I’ve urged him to look into Typekit and/or FontDeck, so hopefully they will be of some interest to him.
