Almost every news redesign project I've participated in in the last three years has intended to use downloadable web fonts. But there is always a problem, they don't size correctly, they are not hinted as well as the default web set. And of course you need to rely on the viewer downloading the embeddable fonts, which is a crap shoot. So you need to design for embeddable fonts and the default web set. Editors get cold feet, we're back to Georgia and Verdana and "maybe next time." It’s like the holy grail.
