UnDugg

With Digg relenting, the Digg bar’s assault on our content, ranking, and traffic will soon fade like every other lousy idea on the web, and we can once again retire our unframing scripts.

I for one am keeping the diggBar enabled on my account. I think it’s an awesome addition to their tools and completely appropriate for the type of web site that digg is. I think it is good to disable it for those who aren’t logged in, but that’s about my only major criticism of it.

I don’t like the idea of my content being masked by Digg. The one thing that made this social sharing service great for content authors and publishers, was that it gave people exposure. Now they taking it away.

Especially with the shortened, Digg URL’s. Couldn’t they just reference the original? Not only is it bad etiquette, but isn’t that illegal since we protect our websites by copyright? Stating that the content is ours.

Call me Alexander Hamilton, but I can’t summon the same sense of “free market” optimism.

Speaking of lousy ideas and free markets, attempts at governance on the Internet continue…
In France, the National Assembly last week rejected a government proposal to cut off the Internet connections of persistent copyright pirates, in a surprise vote. President Nicolas Sarkozy has said the government will reintroduce the measure at the end of the month.

I am all for getting rid of these framing bars. We all need to do our part in spreading the word about this “faux e-pas”
