Any idea on when the next AEA event will be?

Hopefully, this will be my first ALA event. I’ve tried to attend in the past, but circumstances kept getting in the way.

In the (likely) event that something else does come up on those two days, would it be too much trouble to reschedule this around my schedule? Thanks so much!

Glad to hear it, Jeffrey! I’ll be following this place and ALA.com in the future for updates and plans for the next AEA’s. I’m very anctious and excited to know where (and when) in Europe you’ll have the first European AEA. :-)

I was supposed to go, or was told I was slated to go, but last week I was laid off, so that is a huge letdown. I was excited to see and meet the people that have influenced my work heavily. Maybe next time around when Boston is on the slate again maybe.

Having AEA’s in Europe would also help.

We intend to! And we’re excited about doing it. But we can’t do it this year. Currently our energy is focused on transforming An Event Apart from an intimate, one-day affair into a star-studded, two-day extravaganza, with more great speakers, a tighter structure, and a lower attendance cost per day. Coping with intercontinental business issues at this time would introduce one complexity too many. But soon!

Meanwhile, thanks for your interest and feedback, which we will keep in mind as we move forward. Sorry you can’t be with us in March, but we hope to see you at a future Event Apart event.

I’d love to be there, but since it’s only one day, traveling all the way from Norway makes the “bang for the buck” balance too low to be able to go. Had the conference been for two or three days, the chances for me going would be a great lot closer to 100%. I hope you can take this into account on future AEA conferences, because I’d really love to go. Having AEA’s in Europe would also help.

I’ve noticed most of the ALA people have these super secret codes.

All our speakers have them: Steve Krug, Adobe’s Andrew Kirkpatrick, Molly E. Holzschlag, Cameron Moll, Dan Cederholm, Ethan Marcotte, and Jason Santa Maria. Eric has one, too. We all do! It’s fun!

Are you guys keeping score on who gets the most people to come?

Informally, sure.

Some sort of method for establishing blog importance based on secret code usage.

No, we already know which blogs are important. (Kidding!)
