Trent, I agree its hard to get graphic design tips except for a few sites like Before And After. There are books on it but not a whole lot of really good ones, best thing is to take a course on it and search out the few that colleges use and ones trusted designers refer to.

how about some more articles that educate technical people about graphic design issues? As a tech person, I would love to learn more about making attractive designs.

We hear you! In the current issue, you'll find a dandy article on whitespace. It covers an aspect of design that non-designers don't know much about -- and even designers can stand to learn more about. I know I found the article illuminating.

A lot of "A List Apart" articles are aimed at educating graphic designers about technology issues (such as "web standards"). This is fine. But how about some more articles that educate technical people about graphic design issues? As a tech person, I would love to learn more about making attractive designs.

Regarding the 'Web Standards' article: It takes quite a while (and a lot of work) to start building and designing web pages around standards... But it pays to do so.

Recently on a class I took, they asked us what we thought about e-commerce websites and one of the things that I mentioned was that they should get closer and closer to web standards, a typical reaction I got from my peers was that "web standards are a pain, and that they are not always the way to go".

Sadly that's how many many organizations think, and while the push for standards is more and more common within the web design community, we still have to convince 'the man' who normally is focused on short term do-it-with-tables-because-its-quicker mentality.

Great articles, as usual.
