Started building a house for my mom and my siblings. I got a promotion and received a salary increase which also means I did well at work. Unfortunately, zero lovelife. I have to say, though, that this is an excellent tradition, and sort of turns the tables on the typical “resolutions.” Resolutions always seem to me like an admission of defeat in some way – “let’s see what I didn’t manage to succeed with this past year and what I can do to change this rotten person that I’ve allowed myself to become.” For myself, I can happily report that I too got married, earned my Ph.D., had two articles published in scholarly journals, and still managed to keep up with everything worth watching on television. Perhaps not the success everyone hopes and dreams of, but it suits me nicely. With apologies for my decided lack of rhythm and rhyme. I created a <a href="http://www.stoneycreekwebdesign.com/portfolio.php" rel="nofollow">few websites</a> and made a bit of money off my web obsession. I retired from my <a href="http://ci.rochester.mi.us/police/default.asp" rel="nofollow">28 year police career</a> and couldn't be happier that I did so. It pales in comparison, but for me this amounted to a busy year! I learned a bit about website design and accessibility from Mike Cherim. I created a few websites and made a bit of money off my web obsession. I retired from my 28 year police career and couldn’t be happier that I did so.

Then I went to <a href="http://www.cue-the-sun.com/transmissions/spain/madrid/the-running-of-the-bulls/" rel="nofollow">Spain</a> in the hope of milking said role for all it was worth. Got <a href="http://www.cue-the-sun.com/transmissions/spain/valencia/a-day-of-elation/" rel="nofollow">offered a job</a>, had it <a href="http://www.cue-the-sun.com/transmissions/spain/cordoba/a-week-of-deflation/" rel="nofollow">taken back off me</a>, and <a href="http://www.cue-the-sun.com/transmissions/spain/madrid/last-roll-of-the-dice/" rel="nofollow">came back</a> home.
