Has success spoiled Joel Schumacher? From Flatliners to The Client, A Time to Kill to Batman & Robin, Schumacher's shrewd commercial sense has rarely failed him – though it's caused some critics to miss the themes of character, family, and spirituality that underlie his entire body of work.
          I've wanted to meet this director since I helped create the web site for his hip hit Batman Forever. In July 1996 we finally got together. As you'd expect from a man who can get retake after retake without damaging his actor's egos, Schumacher was relaxed, and easy to talk to.
